BREAKING: Daniel Cameron Privately Pledged to “Actively Support” Eliminating Medicaid Expansion in KY

A new report from NBC News reveals Daniel Cameron privately pledged to “actively support” and “if in a position to do so, work for and vote for” a disastrous health care agenda that would completely dismantle Medicaid expansion in Kentucky, gut coverage for people with pre-existing conditions, and restrict access to birth control.

As the report confirms, this is “at odds” with what Cameron has said publicly on the subject throughout the campaign, promising he “would not support reversing the expansion of eligibility.”

Cameron has already faced heat for a plan similar to former Governor Matt Bevin’s, which threatens coverage for nearly 100,000 Kentuckians, but this report makes clear he intends to go much further. Completely eliminating Medicaid expansion in Kentucky could rip health care away from more than 600,000 Kentuckians, threatening rural hospitals and costing jobs.

“This report confirms Daniel Cameron has been lying to Kentuckians, privately pledging to actively support stripping health care coverage from over 600,000 people, gutting coverage for pre-existing conditions and restricting access to birth control,” said DGA States Press Secretary Emma O’Brien. “Cameron can’t be trusted, and Kentuckians won’t risk their health care by supporting him and his dangerous plans.”
