AZ GOP Primary Gets More Expensive and Messier With Two New Ads Filled With False Claims

Arizona’s crowded GOP primary is already getting even more expensive and chaotic, as two desperate new ads from super PACs supporting Karrin Taylor Robson and David Schweikert try and fail to paper over their records as extreme political insiders.

In a sad attempt to rewrite history, which Yellow Sheet Report called “The Robson Rebrand,” a super PAC backing Karrin Taylor Robson falsely claimed that she “isn’t another career politician.” In fact, Robson has a “long history with Arizona politics” as a longtime lobbyist and failed politician — even spending nearly $20 million to lose to Kari Lake in 2022.

Similarly, a pro-Schweikert super PAC released a new ad falsely claiming that Schweikert “isn’t a sellout.” However, the ad went on to contradict itself by bragging about how Schweikert sold out Arizonans by backing Donald Trump’s tax law that cuts health care and raises costs while giving massive tax breaks to billionaires and blowing up the debt.

Overall, these ads come as Robson, Schweikert, and Andy Biggs remain locked in a nasty and expensive race to the right — more focused on loyalty to the GOP’s extreme partisan agenda than on the biggest issues facing Arizona families. No matter who survives this primary, they all back Trump’s disastrous budget law that puts health care in jeopardy for 365,000 Arizonans and threatens rural hospitals, along with his cost-hiking tariffs.
