AZ GOP Primary Becomes Pathetic Scramble for Trump’s Approval on “MAGA’s Playground”
The Arizona GOP primary has officially gone off the rails, and Saturday’s Turning Point rally for extremist Andy Biggs made that painfully clear — exposing a race more focused on desperate Trump approval than on the real issues facing Arizonans.
Turning Point even followed up by launching a $500,000 “GOP ad war” in support of Biggs yesterday.
Both Biggs and Karrin Taylor Robson are locked in a race to the bottom, each eager to prove they are more loyal to Donald Trump than Arizonans. At Saturday’s rally, Biggs highlighted that what makes him the most qualified to be governor of Arizona is that he has Trump’s personal cell phone number. “There’s a difference between being endorsed by President Trump and being endorsed by President Trump and having his personal cell phone number… and I got it,” Biggs bragged.
Meanwhile, Taylor Robson was so desperate to prove her loyalty that she paidto host a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago for her campaign that even Trump couldn’t bother to show up to. She even hired top Trump consultants to gain his approval, only to have them abandon ship. And Trump ultimately rewarded her groveling with a humiliating dual endorsement in the race that’s now focused on appeasing Trump instead of Arizonans.
Both candidates in this messy primary have made clear where it is headed. As Arizona Republic columnist Laurie Roberts argued, the GOP candidates are now competing “on MAGA’s playground.”
DGA Communications Director Sam Newton said: “This race has become a pathetic contest between two candidates more focused on chasing Trump’s approval than delivering for Arizonans. Andy Biggs and Karrin Taylor Robson are locked in a nasty race to the bottom to see who can sell out Arizonans more to boost their own political ambitions.”
