As Granite Staters Receive Billions in COVID Relief, Gov. Chris Sununu Opposes ARP
Today, Dr. Jill Biden is scheduled to visit the Christa McAuliffe School in Concord, New Hampshire to celebrate the passage of the American Rescue Plan and to emphasize the $126 billion going towards reopening America’s schools. As stimulus checks start to hit bank accounts and other forms of relief is doled out to Granite Staters, Gov. Chris Sununu still opposes the bill.
Granite Staters stand to benefit greatly from the bill Gov. Sununu opposes. Overall, the state is set to receive nearly $3 billion – including $362.2 million for public education and stimulus checks for 82% of adults and 74% of children in the state. The ARP is extremely popular – 70% percent of Americans support the plan, and 64% of Republicans support the stimulus checks, a key element of the proposal.
“As Granite Staters receive stimulus checks and schools get much-needed funds to reopen, Gov. Chris Sununu still opposes relief for New Hampshire,” said DGA Communications Director David Turner. “Sununu stands against $3 billion to help struggling working families in New Hampshire, all to prove his allegiance to the GOP. Should Sununu run for reelection in 2022 – he won’t be able to hide from this.”
