As DeSantis Files For Reelection, Florida is Fed Up with His Games
As Ron DeSantis officially filed paperwork to run for reelection, the Democratic Governors Association is calling out DeSantis as a vulnerable hypocrite who has repeatedly put himself first — no matter the cost to Floridians’ health and financial security.
As COVID surged, DeSantis led a crusade against the health and safety of children and families, fueling a “crisis of unprecedented proportions” that has been criticized by more than 800 in-state doctors, parents, major industries in Florida, and front-line workers. He also refused to expand Medicaid and attacked local counties and schools with fines just for implementing their own common sense mask and vaccine measures.
As a result, Floridians from across the political spectrum are increasingly fed up. School boards across the state, including those in Republican strongholds, rebelled against DeSantis’ anti-mask mandates. Even elected officials from DeSantis’ own party have blasted his response to COVID.
DGA Executive Director Noam Lee said the following on DeSantis filing for reelection:
“Whether they’re a Democrat, Republican, a parent, business owner, educator, or health care worker — there’s not a single Floridian who hasn’t been hurt by DeSantis’ colossal leadership failures. DeSantis has chosen his own political agenda over Floridians, and it’s made him extremely vulnerable in what will be a competitive battleground state in 2022. The fact remains: Floridians are fed up with DeSantis’ self-serving political games, and the DGA will continue holding him accountable”
