Ah the Hypocrisy: Richard Irvin, Who Won’t Say Who He Voted for in ‘16 and ‘20, Attacks Opponent’s Running Mate for Criticizing Trump
In another example of utter hypocrisy, Richard Irvin is lashing out at GOP primary opponent Darren Bailey in a new ad calling Bailey’s running mate a “Never Trumper.”
Meanwhile, Irvin has refused to answer whether he supports Donald Trump or who he voted for in the 2016 and 2020 elections. Irvin has dodged questions about Trump in interviews with WGN 9, ABC 7, and Crain’s.
“Irvin has a Trump issue,” reported Politico.
“He’s between a GOP primary rock and a general election hard place,” wrote Greg Hinz for Crain’s. “Irvin has good reason to be skittish.”
“Richard Irvin is desperate to pass his Trump problem off to someone else because he’s afraid to tell voters where he stands,” said DGA Senior Communications Advisor Christina Amestoy. “After months of dodging questions on who he voted for, Irvin wants to deflect to his opponents — but Illinoisans will see right through his hypocrisy. It’s a simple yes or no: did you vote for Donald Trump?”
