After Messy Primary for Governor, Michigan GOP Heads Into State Convention Still Trapped in Chaos
Since their gubernatorial primary was imploded by recruiting failures, extremism, infighting, and a signature forging scandal, the Michigan GOP has only gotten more divided — foreshadowing chaos for Tudor Dixon at the upcoming state nominating convention.
New reporting from Michigan Advance says two county Republican party conventions “erupted into conflict” last week with opposing factions fighting for control of the party, “leaving major questions to be answered” ahead of the convention.
“With less than three months before the general election,” Michigan Advance wrote, “the battle is likely to play out in court and have far-reaching consequences for a party that is trying to maintain control of the Michigan Legislature and regain the positions of governor, attorney general, and secretary of state.”Meanwhile, Tudor Dixon has continued to double down on her support for an extreme abortion ban with no exceptions for rape, incest, or health of the mother, while starting the general election by thanking all of the special interests like Betsy DeVos who she’s eager to pay back with her harmful agenda.
