Brandon Presley Unveils Plan to Axe Grocery Tax & Cut Car Tag Fees in Half
This week, in Gulfport, Brandon Presley revealed the first plank of his “Cutting Taxes, Creating Jobs”campaign, where he vowed to put money back into pockets of hardworking Mississippians by axing the grocery tax and cutting the car tag fee in half.
Eliminating Mississippi’s grocery tax, which is currently the highest in the nation, is widely popular across party lines, with a new poll yesterday showing over 75% of likely GOP primary voters support getting rid of it.
Presley’s new plan to cut costs for working people comes after he’s spent the past month launching his “War on Corruption” to take on Tate Reeves and his circle of corrupt insiders that have been ripping off Mississippi.
When releasing his plan to slash taxes for working families, Presley said: “As the mayor of Nettleton, I cut car tag fees twice. These are taxes that hit Mississippi families in the teeth. It’s time that someone puts working Mississippians ahead of the lobbyists and big corporations and gives future generations of Mississippians a state government that they can be proud of.
