Kemp: “They can order a pizza. They can order Grubhub or UberEats.”
Today on Newsmax, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp defended his voter suppression bill that criminalizes giving food or water to people waiting in long lines to vote by suggesting they can just “order UberEats.” (I mean, it’s one banana Michael. What could it cost, $10?)
Gov. Kemp’s ridiculous suggestion for dealing with long lines made even worse by his voter suppression bill is right in line with Republicans’ out-of-touch agenda in Georgia. Earlier this month, Kemp signed into law a bill restricting Georgians’ voting rights and seeking to disenfranchise Black voters. The law creates more barriers for voting absentee, limits drop boxes, and criminalizes handing out water to voters waiting in long lines.
The voter suppression bill has caused an uproar across the United States and has even prompted businesses to move out of Georgia, citing conflicting values – the MLB relocated their All-Star Game to Colorado, which is run by a Democratic governor and offers expansive access to voting.
