Under Gov. Lamont’s Leadership, CT is a Leader on Getting Shots in Arms

CT Mirror: “Connecticut became the first state Monday to fully vaccinate at least half its adult population against the novel coronavirus”

Governor Ned Lamont continues to make positive waves for his strong response to COVID-19, announcing yesterday that Connecticut was the first state in the nation to fully vaccinate more than half of its adult population.

The CT Mirror reported: “Connecticut became the first state Monday to fully vaccinate at least half its adult population against the novel coronavirus, pushing down the rates of COVID-19 infections, hospitalizations and deaths, Gov. Ned Lamont said.”

Connecticut continues to make key steps toward safely reopening, which is also kickstarting the state economy. Over the last week, Connecticut lifted outdoor restrictions, and is set to continue phasing out restrictions for all other businesses on May 19th. This comes as Gov. Lamont has proposed a major workforce development program, as companies are hiring at a record pace. In March, Connecticut had its highest monthly job posting numbers in the last ten years.

Overall, Lamont’s leadership during COVID-19 has earned support across party lines. A recent poll from Sacred Heart University found that  57% of Connecticut residents approve of how he is handling his job – including 42% approval among Republicans. Additionally, over 70% of Connecticut residents approve of Lamont’s “overall response and handling of the COVID-19 crisis.”

In contrast, the RGA recently lost a top potential GOP recruit, as New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart has declined to run for governor.

“Governor Lamont’s decisive leadership during COVID-19 is not only saving lives and jumpstarting the local economy, it’s also made Connecticut a national leader,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “As a result, it’s no surprise that Republicans are increasingly afraid of running against Governor Lamont and his popular record.”
