“Terminate It”: What Trump’s Obamacare Repeal Will Cost Florida

Does Gov. Ron DeSantis Support the President’s Efforts to Rip Away Health Care from 1.6 Million Floridians?

Yesterday, President Trump doubled down on his administration’s ultimate goal to “terminate” the ACA even as the country faces its worst public health crisis in history. The deadly effects that a repeal of the Affordable Care Act would cause are unquestionable.

In Florida alone:

  • 1.6 million people would lose health care coverage, raising the state’s uninsured rate among its nonelderly population from 14.4 percent to 24.1 percent.
  • 8.4 million people with preexisting conditions could face higher premiums, face benefit exclusions, or be denied coverage altogether.
  • $9.3 billion in federal funding for health coverage would be lost.

“President Trump wants to rip away millions of Americans’ health care, even as they need it now more than ever,” said DGA Communications Director David Turner. “As Florida faces a deadly pandemic, the question is simple: Does Ron DeSantis support Trump’s dream of ripping away Floridians’ access to critical, life-saving health care?”
