DGA Statement on New Hampshire GOP Gubernatorial Primary Results

Today, the Democratic Governors Association released the following statement on the results from New Hampshire’s GOP primary election for governor:

“After an embarrassing primary performance, Chris Sununu enters general election badly damaged and exposed as a weak candidate,” said DGA Executive Director Elisabeth Pearson. “ As governor, Chris Sununu would bring the Donald Trump agenda to the corner office in Concord: He wants to open an investigation into Planned Parenthood, would block a raise in the state’s minimum wage, and undo Medicaid expansion that covers opioid treatment. It’s no wonder that Sununu whole-heartedly endorsed Trump for president and is now trumpeting the endorsement of anti-choice activist Frank Edelblut as his first act as the GOP nominee.” 

“Sununu’s record on women’s health speaks for itself. Last year, Chris Sununu single-handedly defunded Planned Parenthood, cutting off access to reproductive health care for 12,000 women and men. And just 2 weeks ago, Sununu threatened to open up another investigation into Planned Parenthood. New Hampshire voters know Chris Sununu stands with Trump, but can’t be trusted to stand up for New Hampshire.”
