DGA Statement on Missouri Gubernatorial Primary

DGA Statement on Missouri Gubernatorial Primary

Today, the Democratic Governors Association issued the following statement on the results from Missouri’s primary election for governor:

“Tonight, Eric Greitens enters the general election as a deeply flawed candidate,” said DGA Communications Director Jared Leopold. “More than 60% of Missouri Republicans voted against Greitens, even after he spent more than $7 million on TV ads in the primary.

“Greitens enters the general election facing serious questions over his shady network of campaign donors. Greitens has refused to return $1 million from a Silicon Valley billionaire who allegedly abused a victim of human trafficking for 13 years. And he has accepted $100,000 from a Wall Street titan whose hedge fund was found guilty of insider trading. It’s clear that Eric Greitens is not who he says he is.

“Missouri’s choice for governor is clear. Attorney General Chris Koster has fought to protect Missouri families by strengthening laws to prosecute domestic violence, fighting predatory business practices and recouping more than $600 million for taxpayers. As governor, he will put the focus where it should be: protecting Missouri families, investing in education and supporting job creation.”
