DGA Statement on Governor Tom Wolf’s Re-Election in Pennsylvania

DGA Chair Governor Jay Inslee (D-WA) issued the following statement on Governor Tom Wolf’s re-election in Pennsylvania:

“Congratulations to my friend and colleague Governor Tom Wolf for his great victory in Pennsylvania. Governor Wolf has been a strong leader for Pennsylvania during difficult times, investing in education, expanding access to health care, and bringing needed change to Harrisburg. This is a major victory for Democrats in a state that Donald Trump won just two years ago.

“Governor Wolf is also a national model of how Democratic governors can lead the way to unrig gerrymandered maps and protect the families of our states. Tom Wolf’s leadership in 2018 set a blueprint for what new Democratic governors can do in 2021 to stop Republican gerrymandering.

“The DGA targeted Pennsylvania early on as part of its ‘Unrig the Map’ initiative to combat Republican gerrymandering. Tonight’s victory ensures Pennsylvanians will be represented fairly by their congressional representatives for the next decade.”
