DGA Adds Georgia to “Unrig the Map” Program, Announces Major Redistricting Investment

Latest News

Today, the Democratic Governors Association announced that Georgia will be added as the ninth “Unrig the Map” target for the 2018 election cycle. The DGA’s Unrig the Map project is a zero-overhead fund to win targeted gubernatorial races that are key to 2021 redistricting.
Georgia joins eight previously announced Unrig the Map targets for 2018: Colorado, Florida, Maine, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Unrig the Map scored a significant victory last year with the battleground victory in Virginia.
Also Tuesday, the DGA also announced that it and its allied groups have already invested or reserved $40 million this year in these key redistricting states. The DGA announced the expansion at a press briefing in Washington, D.C., with DGA Chair Gov. Jay Inslee (D-WA) and DGA Executive Director Elisabeth Pearson.
“As Chair of the Democratic Governors Association and a former member of Congress, I know how crucial it is to elect Democratic governors to ensure fair representation,” said Inslee. “That’s why I’m proud to announce Georgia as a key target for our Unrig the Map project as we work to elect a dynamic and strong leader in Stacey Abrams. We have the opportunity this cycle to deliver a devastating blow to the pernicious and undemocratic scourge of gerrymandering, and the DGA will continue to invest in these key states to make that happen.”
