New DGA Video: ‘Pence’s Record: Heavens No!’

New video features Pence’s failed economy, job-killing social agenda in Indiana

Today, after news reports surfaced that Donald Trump will likely announce Gov. Mike Pence as his vice presidential nominee, the Democratic Governors Association released a video to help voters learn more about Pence’s disastrous record in Indiana.

The video, titled “Pence’s Record: Heavens No!” features the governor’s failed economy and the fallout caused by his job-killing social agenda. 

“Mike Pence is close to living his dream of ditching Indiana for the national stage,” said DGA communications director Jared Leopold. “Governor Pence’s economic failure and obsession with social issues has been a disaster for Indiana and would be a drag on the Trump ticket. The American people will learn what Hoosiers voters already know: Mike Pence would rather fight culture wars than focus on the economy.”

Under Gov. Pence, Indiana has seen: 

Job Losses: Indiana job growth trailed the national average in 2015, and under Pence’s watch, Carrier Corp. announced the move of 1,400 Hoosier jobs to Mexico, at a cost of $108 million a year to the state’s economy.

Economic Backlash: As a centerpiece of his social agenda, Pence signed RFRA, allowing Indiana businesses to openly discriminate against the LGBT community. Pence’s discrimination law caused Angie’s List to cancel job expansions in Indiana, and drove more than $60 million out of the state’s hospitality industry.

Women’s Heath Restrictions: Pence approved one of the nation’s strictest anti-women’s health laws that even Republican legislators said was too extreme. The law made Indiana the second state in the nation to ban abortions in the case of genetic fetal abnormalities, and was blocked by a federal judge in June.
