“What This Race Is Really All About”: Ciattarelli Touts Trump Price Hike Bill That Strips Health Care From 350,000 New Jerseyans

In a new interview, GOP nominee Jack Ciattarelli said that Republicans’ disastrous budget bill that strips health care from 350,000 New Jerseyans is what the New Jersey governor’s race “is really all about.”

At every turn, Ciattarelli has praised Donald Trump’s signature legislation that guts Medicaid and rips away food benefits from New Jersey kids, while forcing hospitals to close and driving energy costs higher. He has given his full support to this deeply unpopular budget, saying that as governor he would have been “calling every one of [New Jersey’s] fourteen members of the Congress… to make sure they’re voting yes,” and disparaging “any Republican across the country that doesn’t support” the bill. Ciattarelli also suggested that Medicaid cuts that could strip away care from 350,000 New Jerseyans isn’t “a New Jersey issue.”

“If spiking costs and stripping health care away from hardworking families is ‘what this race is really all about’ for Jack Ciattarelli, then he just gave New Jersey voters one more reason to reject him for a third time,” said DGA spokesperson Izzi Levy.
