There’s Not Enough Money in the World to Make Chris Sununu Want to be Governor of New Hampshire
During an appearance on a local radio show, Chris Sununu hinted that he would not seek a fifth term as Governor of New Hampshire because he needs to “make a real paycheck.” According to state records, Sununu makes over $146,000 annually as governor, more than twice the average individual salary of Granite Staters. In his first year in office, Sununu not only broke with the tradition of taking a reduced salary, but actually increased his own salary by tens of thousands of dollars.
“Despite his six-figure paycheck, Chris Sununu’s griping about not making enough money shows how deeply out of touch he is with Granite Staters who are just trying to get by,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Izzi Levy. “If Sununu is so eager to get a ‘real job,’ we encourage him not to waste another day or taxpayer dollar and be honest with New Hampshire families that he no longer cares about fixing their problems as governor.”
This follows previous disparaging comments from Sununu, including saying that being governor is not a “real job,” and abandoning New Hampshire for a series of national media appearances to discuss his decision to not run for president.
