Chip in today to elect Dem govs >>
Democratic governors are leading in the fight against Donald Trump. With our two historic victories in Virginia and New Jersey, grassroots momentum is on our side! But this year, nearly 80% of the country is voting for a governor – and with Republicans already investing to beat Dem govs, early support has never been so critical. Will you donate to elect more Democratic governors who will defend our rights and freedoms and stand up to Trump?

The Washington Post: DGA Uses Record Fundraising Haul to Invest in Staff Across the Country, Go on Offense in 2026
New reporting from The Washington Post highlights how the DGA is using its record $112 million 2025 fundraising haul to invest in dozens of staff in key states across the country as the organization continues to go on offense in 2026.
The DGA has been partnering with state and local partners around the country to ensure there is talented campaign staff on the ground focused on holding Republicans accountable for their unpopular agenda that is raising costs, cutting health care, and killing jobs.
DGA Executive Director Meghan Meehan-Draper emphasized how in addition to Trump’s agenda dragging down GOP candidates, Democratic governors are the “the most popular elected officials in our party because they… communicate quite naturally a forward-looking view of the party.”

The Washington Post: Democrats hopeful they can reverse a decade-old gubernatorial trend
- The Democratic Governors Association has, for months, been quietly investing in dozens of staffers to state parties and other local groups in states that will host the most important gubernatorial contests this year, operatives with the group tell us.
- It’s a seven-figure investment, they say, using funding from the $112 million the group raised last year, a haul that was more than the $73 million it raised in 2021, ahead of the 2022 midterm races.
- Meghan Meehan-Draper, the executive director of the Democratic Governors Association, said Democratic wins in 2025 elections, including those in Virginia and New Jersey, are evidence that Americans are frustrated with the president and are searching for an alternative.
- “There really is momentum against Trump’s incredibly unpopular policies, and Republicans are finding it impossible to separate themselves,” Meehan-Draper said. This increased focus on Democratic governors is somewhat expected. Not only is the party coming off a good year in the states, but many of the party’s most notable figures are governors.
- “People see Democrat governors as, by far, the most popular elected officials in our party because they … communicate quite naturally a forward-looking view of the party,” said Meehan-Draper.
- When asked what taking control of this majority would mean for her and for Democrats, Meehan-Draper was blunt: “A dream,” she said.
