Statement: Under 100 Days Out from Election Day, Democratic Candidates for Governor Are Ready to Win
Democratic Governors Association Executive Director Meghan Meehan-Draper issued the following statement marking fewer than 100 days until Election Day:
“With fewer than 100 days to go until election day, the future of abortion rights, public education, and our democracy are all on the ballot in the eleven races for governor this fall. While extreme MAGA Republicans want to rip away freedoms and create chaos, Democratic candidates for governor are focused on protecting fundamental freedoms, improving public education and helping the middle class get ahead. It’s a clear contrast and a winning strategy that has allowed Democrats to go on offense and expand the map in recent elections, as voters understand that the single greatest determinant of your freedoms is what state you live in and who your governor is.
“We know the next 99 days will not be easy, and we are taking nothing for granted, but the DGA has shown time and time again that we can compete and win in the most challenging environments. We are ready and eager to hold Republicans accountable for their extremism, and excited to elect more amazing Democratic governors this November.”
The DGA continues to see historic success and growing momentum as voters increasingly recognize the crucial role their governor plays in making decisions that directly impact their lives. The DGA raised a historic $61 million across all entities in the first half of 2024, more than twice what was raised in the last comparable year, with an average online individual contribution of just $17 and a 125% increase in contributions from major donors compared to 2020.
