Statement from DGA Chair Governor Martin O’Malley on North Carolina Primary Results
Governor Martin O’Malley, chair of the Democratic Governors Association, released the followingstatement tonight on the results of the Democratic primary in North Carolina:
“I congratulate Walter Dalton on his primary victory tonight and thank all of the Democratic candidates on a hard-fought race. This election is about our children’s futures, and Walter Dalton understands that providing our kids with a good education now means better opportunities for good jobs later – while Pat McCrory championed the disastrous Republican budget that cuts education funding, leading to increases in classroom sizes and fewer teachers on the job.
“North Carolina families deserve a governor who will work to create jobs and expand opportunity, and Dalton is the only candidate in this race who will work to end the harmful policies of the Republican legislature and keep North Carolina moving forward.”
