Scott Jensen’s Running Mate Doubles Down on Horrific Comments About Women and Abortion

Latest News

In a new interview with WCCO Radio, Scott Jensen’s running mate Matt Birk doubled down on his disturbing comments regarding abortion and women’s rights.

In a newly reported video, Birk equated a rape survivor’s choice to end their pregnancy to rape itself, said our culture “promotes abortion” by telling women they should “have careers,” argued pro-choice advocates “always want to go to the rape card,” and compared abortion to slavery.

“Women used to not be able to vote in our country; now we let them drive!” Birk joked. Asked by WCCO’s Jason DeRusha whether he regrets the comments, Birk said, “No.”

Scott Jensen has previously said he’d ban abortion and recently opposed abortion even for victims of rape and incest because “you don’t necessarily have the chance to prove that.”

“Matt Birk’s unapologetic assault on women and abortion rights is dangerous and shows how out-of-touch the Jensen-Birk ticket is,” said DGA Senior Communications Advisor Christina Amestoy. “Scott Jensen must immediately apologize for his running mate’s harmful comments about rape survivors.”
