Oregon GOP Primary Gets Even More Chaotic and Crowded as MAGA Candidates Fight to Prove their Allegiance to Donald Trump

Today, Oregon State Representative Ed Diehl is set to announce his campaign for governor, adding to an already-messy and chaotic Republican primary that will force every candidate even further to the right. Diehl has already proven that he’s more aligned with Donald Trump’s MAGA agenda than with everyday Oregonians – backing extreme abortion restrictions, opposing common sense gun safety measures, and even claiming that there’s “no sense stressing about” Trump’s tariffs that are jacking up costs.

The field of MAGA candidates is rapidly growing and Diehl is only the latest entrant. Also this week, David Medina, a literal January 6 insurrectionist and right-wing podcaster, jumped into the race to square off against Christine Drazan’s own pandering to far-right extremists, January 6th rioters, and election deniers. With the GOP primary getting nastier by the week, Oregonians will have a front row seat to exactly how these Republicans will always put their loyalty to Donald Trump ahead of doing what’s right for their state.

“Every Republican candidate running for Oregon governor is lining up to prove just how far they are willing to go to gain the admiration of Donald Trump,” said DGA spokesperson Johanna Warshaw. “While Oregonians face rising health care costs and attacks on their fundamental freedoms thanks to Donald Trump’s unpopular and dangerous agenda, these Republicans are proudly lining up behind him.
