Nicole Galloway Launches New Ad Hitting Missouri Gov. Mike Parson For Kicking 100,000 Kids Off Their Health Insurance

“If this pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that every Missourian deserves health care they can afford.”

Nicole Galloway released a new ad today hitting Missouri Gov. Mike Parson for kicking 100,000 children off their health insurance. Under Parson’s leadership, Missouri has been ranked number one for the rate of increase in young children losing health insurance – even though it’s likely many of these children are still eligible for Medicaid.

Parson has railed against access to affordable health care – and it’s making life during the pandemic even more difficult for Missourians. Due to Parson’s refusal to implement Medicaid expansion, Missouri has seen seven rural hospitals close since 2010, putting Missouri in the top five states for rural hospital financial vulnerability. More closures could be on the way – experts estimate hospitals statewide have lost a billion dollars in revenue every month of the pandemic.

With the pandemic worsening in the state, Missourians need a leader committed to expanding health care coverage, not working to block it.

As governor, Nicole Galloway will restore coverage to every child who had it taken away. She will implement Medicaid expansion, work to lower prescription drug costs, and protect people with pre-existing conditions.

“Mike Parson’s abysmal record on health care has left Missouri families struggling to survive during the pandemic,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Christina Amestoy. “With COVID-19 running unchecked through the state, Missourians need health care now more than ever. Missourians are lining up behind Galloway because she has a track record of fighting for hardworking Missouri families and plans to expand access to affordable health care during the pandemic.”
