New Audio: Mark Robinson Doubles Down on His 2020 Election Denial

“Yeah, I said that”

A new report from Friday reveals that North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, who is the frontrunner in the GOP primary for governor, has embraced 2020 election denial even further than what has previously been reported. Previously, Robinson has implied the 2020 election results were illegitimate, but new audio obtained by the News & Observer reveals Robinson’s full-throated embrace of election denial claims.

Barely weeks after rioters seeking to overturn the 2020 election stormed the Capitol and attacked law enforcement officers, Robinson took it upon himself to deliver a speech where he clearly and forcefully pushed the conspiracy theory that Democrats “stole the election.”

Robinson proudly followed up his embrace of that dangerous claim with, “Yeah, I said that.”

“Mark Robinson’s proud embrace of the 2020 election denial conspiracy theory is yet another example of why he is too extreme and too dangerous for North Carolina,” said DGA National Press Secretary Devon Cruz. “North Carolinians deserve a leader who is going to spend their time focused on the issues that matter most to working families, not a politician who is only focused on stoking division and peddling conspiracy theories. This is especially important as right-wing politicians continue to attack voting rights and undermine the foundation of our democracy.”
