Nevadans Slam Joe Lombardo’s Offensive Comments and Threats to Vital Programs that Working Families Have Earned
Over the weekend, thousands of Nevadans gathered in Las Vegas and Carson City to protest Joe Lombardo and his offensive comments mocking hardworking Nevadans. Earlier this month, Lombardo was caught on tape calling his constituents’ protests against Trump’s devastating agenda “stupid,” insisting that all protesters were paid to be there, and saying his message to critics is “F— you.” He also falsely claimed, as Nevada struggles with the worst unemployment in the nation under him, that “people would rather manipulate the government process and receive unemployment or to sit at home versus occupying a job that’s available.”
This comes after Lombardo embraced Trump’s disastrous tariffs and cuts to public education that will devastate hardworking Nevadans. Once again, Lombardo is making it clear that he is more interested in protecting his own reputation and billionaire backers than in advocating for working families across Nevada.
Read more about the protests against Lombardo’s offensive rhetoric and his failure to stand up for working Nevadans:
- KOLO: “Crowds descended on Carson City on Saturday, April 19, to protest what they say is President Trump’s ‘hostile government takeover’ and Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo’s ‘recent caustic, inaccurate and profanity-laced public speech.’ When asked for a response, Lombardo’s Press Secretary Josh Meny replied, ‘no comment.’”
-
Reno Gazette Journal: “Carrying a sign saying ‘Now you’ve pissed off Granny,’ Margaret Moore-Nadler said she’d never been to a protest before — and she wasn’t being paid. But Gov. Lombardo’s comments were something she felt needed pushback.”
-
KTNV: “‘No one is paid. Nobody gets a dime. Everyone is here because they are horrified, terrified, of what is going on in our country,’ said Kathy Blair, Demonstrator.”
-
News 4: “At the same private Republican fundraiser where he called the protests stupid, Lombardo said his message for critics was ‘F— you’ and that the protesters didn’t want to work and prefer handouts instead.”
