NC GOP Candidate: “The RGA was worried about Robinson. They may deny that, but they were”
A recent report from The Washington Post, which outlines North Carolina Lt. Governor Mark Robinson’s numerous dangerous and offensive comments, also details the major concerns the Republican Governors Association had with Robinson, with his primary opponent Bill Graham revealing, “The RGA was worried about Robinson. They may deny that, but they were.”
The Washington Post also details how the RGA reportedly sought the Graham campaign’s input to potentially mount a major spending campaign against Robinson, adding that Graham’s “chief strategist, Paul Shumaker, said the same and added that the RGA sought the Graham team’s input on a team to lead the effort. But no such spending materialized.”
As numerous local Republicans have been warning Robinson is too extreme and has “too much baggage” to win a general election, GOP State Treasurer Dale Folwell also slammed Robinson, telling the Post, “He is history’s latest example of someone trying to rise to power through hate.”
This new reporting comes as the RGA continues to be locked in an ugly open feud with Donald Trump who endorsed Mark Robinson for governor over the weekend.
“The RGA may try to deny it but even they know how toxic and dangerous Mark Robinson is,” said DGA Communications Director Sam Newton. “From attempting to replace him, to openly feuding with his biggest supporter, the RGA continues to be in disarray in North Carolina and are going to be stuck with a candidate they apparently don’t even want to support.”
