NBC: Mark Robinson Wants to Go Further and Pass a “Zero” Week Abortion Ban in North Carolina

Robinson: “I’d like to get down to zero”

Over the weekend, new reporting revealed an audio clip of Mark Robinson telling a supporter that he wants to go further than the state’s current 12-week abortion ban, and “push it back as far as we could” to “get down to zero.”

In his remarks, Robinson also questioned the state’s narrow exceptions for victims of rape and incest, stating, “That 12 weeks, exceptions for rape and incest…I’m not going to say it’s reasonable.”

Robinson’s comments confirm that, despite recent attempts to deceive voters, he has not changed his position “at all” and his agenda still includes passing an extreme abortion ban that outlaws abortion “for any reason”, including for victims of rape and incest.

Robinson has been outlining his desire to make North Carolina’s abortion ban even more restrictive since at least February, when he told supporters, “We’ve got it down to 12 weeks. The next goal is to get it down to 6, and then just keep moving from there.”

“Mark Robinson has been clear from the beginning of his campaign, that if he is elected governor, he will carry out his extreme agenda of banning abortion completely without any exceptions for rape and incest,” said DGA National Press Secretary Devon Cruz. “There is no question that is where he stands, and North Carolinians cannot afford to have a dangerous extremist attacking their rights in the governor’s office.”
