Mark Robinson Doubles Down on Anti-Choice Extremism, Brags About Misleading Voters
“They think that I’ve changed my position. I have not changed my position.”
After CNN reported that North Carolina Lt. Governor Mark Robinson has againbeen trying to avoid talking about his long, well-documented record of pushing to ban abortion under “any circumstances,” Robinson once more took to the airwaves to clarify that he stands by his extreme agenda — but that he’d rather North Carolinians not know about it.
In an interview with Tony Perkins on the 51st anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, Robinson doubled down on his attacks on reproductive freedom, and seemingly bragged about his efforts to mislead voters about his stance, saying, “They think that I’ve changed my position. I have not changed my position. I’ve just changed…what I’m saying.”
Robinson’s latest obfuscation comes as new DGA polling reveals that 51% of North Carolinians oppose the Supreme Court’s Decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, and 52% would prefer a governor who would protect abortion rights — the latest sign that his extreme position is far out of step with North Carolina voters.
“No matter how he says it today, Mark Robinson remains fully committed to banning abortion in North Carolina, without exceptions — even for victims of rape or incest,” said DGA National Press Secretary Devon Cruz. “North Carolinians deserve better than extreme politicians who are dead-set on attacking their most fundamental rights one day, and then trying to mislead voters and lie about their toxic positions the next.”
