Malloy, Inslee Statement on Senate Passage of Republican Tax Reform Bill
DGA Chair Gov. Dan Malloy (D-CT) and DGA Vice Chair Gov. Jay Inslee (D-WA) released the following joint statement on the passage of the Republican tax reform bill in the Senate:
“This sham of a bill is exactly what’s wrong with Washington,” said Malloy and Inslee. “This bill explodes the deficit and hikes taxes on millions of middle-class Americans in our states. And the U.S. Senate couldn’t even be bothered to read the bill before passing it in the dead of the night.
“This reckless fiscal policy would never be accepted around any American kitchen table. Make no mistake: States and our citizens would pay the price for this disastrous tax bill. That’s why Democratic and Republican governors alike have spoken up against it. Despite this shameful and partisan vote, it’s still not too late for the Congress to reject this bill, recognizing that a majority of Americans oppose it because of the severe damage it will cause middle-class families all across America.”
