Kansas Farmer Blasts Trump’s Tariffs, GOP Field Remains Silent
Kansas Farmers Union Executive Director Nick Levendofsky blasted Trump’s tariffs in a new interview, saying they have “caused a lot of problems for farmers,” including raising costs on farm equipment and potentially putting a number of farmers out of business permanently.
Kansas Republicans running for governor have embraced the Administration’s unpopular, cost-raising agenda, with the Kansas Reflector noting “Kansas Republicans have been loathe to publicly criticize Trump’s trade agenda.”
“Instead of caving to this Administration, the Republicans running for Kansas governor should actually listen to the farmers in their state who are being devastated by these chaotic trade policies,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Johanna Warshaw. “At a time when farmers are still suffering from the impacts of the last trade war, the Kansas GOP field is proving just how extreme and out-of-step they are with Kansans by refusing to stand up for farmers against these disastrous tariffs.”
