Joint Statement from Governor Walz’s Fellow Democratic Governors Celebrating His Selection as Vice President Harris’ Running Mate
Twenty-two Democratic governors from across the country released the following statement reaffirming their support for Vice President Harris and celebrating the selection of fellow Democratic Governor and DGA Chair Tim Walz to join the ticket:
“As America’s Democratic governors, we represent a broad and diverse set of 23 states that make up more than half the U.S. population. Many of us were elected in very challenging races in battleground and red states. We make tough decisions as state executives every day, and know what it takes to win. We couldn’t be more thrilled that Vice President Kamala Harris has selected Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, and will do everything in our power to ensure their success this November.
“The presidential election will be a contrast between freedom, good governance, and unity on our side versus extremism, chaos, and division on the other. Governor Walz is a veteran, teacher, and executive leader who has delivered real results for the middle class and stood up for democracy and reproductive rights. That perfectly complements Vice President Harris’ successful leadership and experience upholding the rule of law as a prosecutor.
“Overall, there’s no doubt the Harris-Walz ticket is the perfect one-two punch to knock out the GOP’s dangerous agenda and failure to deliver for the American people. “Now through November, we will do everything we can to elect more Democratic governors to join our ranks and ensure that Vice President Harris and Gov. Walz are the President and Vice President of the United States.”
Governors that signed on to the letter include Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont, Delaware Gov. John Carney, Hawai’i Gov. Josh Green, M.D., Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Maine Gov. Janet Mills, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey, Michigan Gov.
