Right now, July 25th at 3:15 PM MDT, Democratic governors are holding a press conference at the National Governors Association Summer Meeting. As health care remains a top issue for many Americans, Democratic governors will discuss their innovative actions to protect and expand access to health care. Democratic governors are on the offensive—expanding Medicaid, removing barriers to accessing Medicaid, stabilizing their state’s health insurance exchanges, enacting reinsurance policies that lower insurance costs, and enshrining the Affordable Care Act’s consumer protections into law, to name a few.
After a historic 2018 election cycle where seven gubernatorial seats flipped from red to blue, a majority of Americans are now represented by a Democratic governor. Democratic governors ran on protecting and expanding access to health care—and are delivering on that promise.
