Fung And Morgan’s Silence Speaks Volumes on Offshore Drilling

Latest News

Over a month after President Trump moved to open up Rhode Island’s coastal waters to offshore drilling, Republican gubernatorial candidates Allan Fung and Patricia Morgan have remained conspicuously silent on this important issue. Their refusal to take a position stands in marked contrast to Governor Gina Raimondo who has led the way in speaking out against the Trump plan’s dangerous impact on Rhode Island. The state’s entire Congressional delegation has also made their position clear on the subject, leaving one to wonder why Fung and Morgan are hiding.

“The people of Rhode Island deserve to know where the candidates running to lead their state stand on Trump’s offshore drilling plan,” said DGA Communications Director Jared Leopold.  “By hiding and refusing to make their position known on offshore drilling, Fung and Morgan are putting political considerations ahead of Rhode Island’s environment, economy, and people.”
