Doug Mastriano’s Election Lies & Plot to Throw Out Pennsylvanians’ Votes Called Out Again In Jan. 6 Committee Hearing
This week, Doug Mastriano’s dangerous MAGA record meant he came up in the bipartisan January 6th hearing, as the committee played footage of a hearing organized by Mastriano and his associates in an attempt to pressure Pennsylvania officials into throwing out votes on behalf of Donald Trump’s Big Lie.
The footage included the infamous Gettysburg hearing where former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani — who had his law license suspended — appeared alongside Mastriano in an attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Trump dialed into that hearing to call on MAGA extremists like Mastriano to throw out Pennsylvanians’ votes.
Last week, Mastriano’s election lies were called out by Trump’s former Attorney General Bill Barr at the first committee hearing. And previously, Mastriano was subpoenaed for his role in attending the insurrection — crossing police barricades and paying thousands of dollars to bus Pennsylvanians to the Capitol that day.
During the hearing, Mastriano’s newest campaign hire, “Senior Legal Advisor” Jenna Ellis, also made an appearance, as evidence was shown of her working with Giuliani to pressure state and local officials to throw out Pennsylvanians’ votes in the wake of the 2020 presidential election. Last week, Mastriano announced the hire of Ellis to his gubernatorial campaign, despite the fact that her only legal experience in Pennsylvania is championing dangerous election conspiracies.
“Once again, Doug Mastriano’s MAGA extremism has been on full display during the bipartisan Jan. 6 committee hearings,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “Mastriano and his conspiracy theorist cronies couldn’t be more dangerous, and they’re hellbent on undermining our democracy and taking away Pennsylvanians’ rights. Pennsylvanians know they can’t allow Mastriano anywhere near the Governor’s office.”
