DGA Statement on Trump Imposing New Cost-Raising Tariffs After Being Struck Down by Supreme Court
In response to Donald Trump announcing he will impose 10% global tariffs following the Supreme Court striking down Trump’s cost-raising tariff policy, DGA Communications Director Sam Newton issued the following statement:
“Donald Trump will stop at nothing to enact his deeply unpopular, cost-raising tariffs even as it drives prices through the roof and businesses and family farms into the ground. GOP candidates lost handedly in New Jersey and Virginia in 2025 because Americans are tired of their disastrous economic agenda. Trump’s latest tariffs will only make life harder and more expensive for working families – and Republican candidates for governor will be forced to own that every day from now until November.”
Numerous House Republicans and current gubernatorial candidates including Andy Biggs (AZ), David Schweikert (AZ), Byron Donalds (FL), Randy Feenstra (IA), John James (MI), and Tom Tiffany (WI) have all voted to allow Trump’s tariffs numerous times – including as recently as last week.
