DGA Statement on the Primary Elections in Texas

Today, Democratic Governors Association Executive Director Elisabeth Pearson released the following statement on the nominations of Lupe Valdez and Gov. Greg Abbott for governor in Texas:
“Congratulations to Lupe Valdez on becoming the Democratic nominee for governor in Texas,” said Pearson. “An Army veteran and Dallas County Sheriff, Lupe has been serving her community and country with distinction for years. As governor, she will protect women’s access to health care, rebuild the state’s infrastructure, and make sure everyone has a fair shot to get ahead. Governor Abbott has pushed a divisive agenda that threatens the state’s business community. Lupe Valdez will lead Texas in a new direction and deliver real results for Texas families.”
