Today, Democratic Governors Association Executive Director Elisabeth Pearson released the following statement on the 2016 New Hampshire governor’s race.
“Governor Maggie Hassan has provided strong, common-sense leadership for New Hampshire since she was elected. Over two terms, Governor Hassan has worked across the aisle to invest in education, support job creation, and pass fiscally responsible budgets. The next Democratic nominee for governor will be well-poised to continue to lead New Hampshire with common-sense and fiscal responsibility.
“Meanwhile, the Republican Party appears headed for a divisive primary that will push candidates even further to the right. Republicans haven’t won a New Hampshire governor’s race in a presidential year since 1992. They won’t break that streak with candidates who have blocked women’s health funding, opposed expanded access to health care, and voted for dangerous budget gimmicks.”
