DGA Statement on Kelly Ayotte Officially Filing for NHGov
DGA Deputy Communications Director Izzi Levy released the following statement on former U.S. Senator and Republican candidate for governor Kelly Ayotte officially filing to be on the ballot for New Hampshire’s governor’s race this morning:
“Kelly Ayotte is a self-serving politician who will say or do anything to win, even lying to Granite Staters about her dangerous record of restricting reproductive freedom, including leading the charge for a national abortion ban and helping to pave the way for the overturning of Roe v. Wade by serving as the ‘sherpa’ for Neil Gorsuch’s Supreme Court nomination. As she continues to pander to extremists and run even further to the right to try to make it through her increasingly negative and nasty primary, Ayotte is reminding New Hampshire voters at every turn why they do not trust her, why they rejected her in her last election, and why they are going to do it again this November.”
Quick facts on Ayotte’s anti-abortion record:
-
In the U.S. Senate, she led the charge for a national abortion ban.
-
Ayotte called for the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
-
Ayotte voted for the Blunt amendment, which would have allowed insurers and employers to deny coverage of birth control, IVF treatments, and more.
-
Ayotte voted against funding for Planned Parenthood.
-
Ayotte voted to make it harder for Granite Staters to access birth control.
-
After leaving the U.S. Senate, Ayotte was hand-picked to serve as the “sherpa” for Supreme Court Justice nominee Neil Gorsuch’s Senate confirmation, paving the way for the eventual overturning of Roe.
