DGA Statement on James Voting to Slash Medicaid and Food Assistance in Michigan

In response to John James voting to pass extreme cuts to Medicaid and SNAP in the name of giving tax handouts to the ultra-wealthy, DGA spokesperson Kevin Donohoe released the following statement:

“Today, John James put billionaires and Washington Republicans’ partisan agenda ahead of Michiganders’ health care and jobs. James was a key vote to kick more than 400,000 Michiganders off their health insurance, take away SNAP from more than 300,000 people in communities who need it most, risk manufacturing jobs, endanger rural hospitals across the state, and jeopardize the state budget – all to pay for tax cuts for billionaires. With John James and Tom Leonard both embracing this disastrous bill, Aric Nesbitt and Mike Cox should be clear about whether they, like their competitors, support taking away Michiganders’ health care all to pay for big tax cuts for the wealthy.”
