DGA Chair Governor Jay Inslee (D-WA) issued the following statement on Governor-Elect Laura Kelly’s victory in Kansas’ gubernatorial race, a major pickup for Democrats:
“Congratulations to Governor-Elect Laura Kelly on her inspiring and well-deserved victory in Kansas. Kansans are getting a proven leader with a long bipartisan record who will work to strengthen Kansas schools and expand access to health care for the state’s working families.
“Governor-Elect Kelly is the perfect antidote to the failed Sam Brownback tax experiment that has held the state back the last several years; she will build a Kansas that works for everyone. This is a major pickup for Democrats and a massive rejection of the reckless Sam Brownback policies of slashing education. I look forward to serving alongside Gov. Kelly and seeing the great things she will get done for the people of Kansas.”
