DGA Statement on Gov. Glenn Youngkin Gutting Protections for Contraception and Birth Control

Today, after Gov. Glenn Youngkin gutted a bill that would guarantee access to contraception and birth control for women in Virginia, the same bill that Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears cast the tie-breaking vote against, DGA National Press Secretary Devon Cruz released the following statement:

“Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s gutting of this legislation is a direct threat to reproductive freedom in Virginia, and guarantees that protecting reproductive rights will be a major issue in the race for governor. In fact, Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears voted against this bill in order to leave the door open to further restrictions and bans on reproductive freedom. Sears may not want to answer questions about her extreme record and agenda, but we won’t let Virginians forget where she stands between now and November.”
