DGA Statement on Dan Meuser Not Running for Governor in Pennsylvania
DGA spokesperson Izzi Levy released the following statement in response to reports that Rep. Dan Meuser is not running for governor in Pennsylvania after voting for Trump’s toxic budget bill:
“Even longtime Congressman Dan Meuser — Donald Trump’s hand-picked candidate for the Republican nomination for governor — knows he can’t go up against Governor Josh Shapiro and win. Meuser knows that it would be a losing battle to put his record of voting to cut health care, jobs, and food assistance for Pennsylvanians up against Governor Shapiro’s record of cutting costs, enhancing public safety, funding our schools, and delivering for all Pennsylvanians. His decision to bow out should be a warning sign to the RGA and any other wannabe GOP gubernatorial candidate — in Pennsylvania and beyond — who backed this disastrous and unpopular legislation.
“As Governor Shapiro continues to deliver for Pennsylvania by creating jobs, cutting taxes and putting money back in people’s pockets, investing in public schools and public safety, and securing major economic development projects across the Commonwealth, alarm bells are no doubt going off for Republicans who face an increasingly uphill battle against Pennsylvania’s Get Stuff Done Governor.”
