DGA Releases Statement On Dan Forest’s Gubernatorial Announcement, Launches New Video, “The Cost”
Today, the Democratic Governors Association released the following statement regarding North Carolina Lt. Gov. Dan Forest’s announcement that he is running for governor and launched a new video, “The Cost.” Forest now joins State Rep. Holly Grange in the Republican primary.
“Forest can run but he can’t hide from his extreme record as ‘chief architect’ of the job-killing HB2 and denying health care to over 500,000 North Carolinians,” said DGA Communications Director David Turner. “Instead of focusing on North Carolinians’ concerns, both Grange and Forest will be engaged in a divisive and expensive race to the right for the next six months. We look forward to holding the eventual hobbled nominee to account for the out-of-touch positions they take in 2020.”
The DGA is launching a new video, “The Cost,” highlighting Forest’s destructive role in HB2, which lost North Carolina $3.76 billion in economic activity and made the state a national embarrassment. Forest’s poor judgment cost North Carolina and it’s clear—the state can’t afford Forest as governor.
