DGA Chair Gov. Beshear on MS NOW: “We’re Going to Win in Places That People Aren’t Expecting”

Beshear: “If Donald Trump wants to hit the campaign trail, bring it on.” 

Yesterday, DGA Chair Governor Andy Beshear appeared on MS NOW’s The Briefing with Jen Psaki and CNN’s Laura Coates Live to underscore how Democrats are going on offense in next year’s 36 races for governor with a winning playbook of focusing on delivering on the biggest issues facing American families. Gov. Beshear also called out how Donald Trump’s health care cuts and tariffs jacking up costs are going to be a major vulnerability for Republican candidates across the country.

“We have 36 races next year, and Democrats are going to win a lot of them. We are going to change the map, and we’re going to win in places that people aren’t expecting. And if Donald Trump wants to hit the campaign trail, bring it on. Get out there with that tariff board. Talk about the Big, Ugly Bill and how it’s going to devastate rural communities and eliminate rural health care. Get out and call affordability a hoax, come on, because the American people know the truth. And on the other side, we’ve got great Democratic governors and great candidates for governor. And as Democratic governors, we have the receipts. We’ve actually created jobs, we’ve raised wages. I’ve expanded health care in Kentucky, we’ve got the largest workforce that we’ve ever had and the most jobs filled, and that’s done under Democratic leadership, because when we elect Democrats, we do something Republicans can’t: we govern well.”

“Well, we have a whole list of superstars that are Democratic governors right now. I’m proud to be the new chair of the DGA. Gretchen Whitmer, a superstar, is the vice chair, and we’re looking forward to working together. […] (Democratic governors) understand how to get results. We bring common sense, we try to find common ground, and then we try to better the lives of the people of our states. We’ve got the receipts, we’ve got better economies. We’ve got expanded health care in Kentucky for dental, vision and hearing, which has our workforce now at the largest that it’s ever been.”
