Ciattarelli Refuses to Commit to Protecting New Jerseyans’ Health Care … Again

Two-time loser Jack Ciattarelli is refusing to share how he would protect the 300,000 New Jerseyans currently at risk of losing their health insurance thanks to Donald Trump and congressional Republicans’ plans to slash Medicaid.

As the Bergen Record reports, “when asked about the work of Republicans on a federal level to potentially cut funding for education and programs like Medicaid, [Ciattarelli] said, ‘This is a race for governor of New Jersey and we will continue to talk about New Jersey issues.’”

Ciattarelli’s comments come after he previously endorsed cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security — essential programs that millions of Americans rely on — as a “grand experiment,” and said that if he were in office he would be “calling everyone of our 14 members of the Congress… to make sure they support” this legislation that takes aim at the health care benefits families rely on.

“Jack Ciattarelli doesn’t think the prospect of hundreds of thousands of working New Jerseyans losing their health insurance is a ‘New Jersey issue,’ and that’s exactly why he can never be governor,” said DGA spokesperson Izzi Levy. “At every turn, Ciattarelli continues to show that he will always bend the knee to Trump and Washington Republicans instead of putting New Jersey first.”
