Can’t Trust Kelly Ayotte: DGA Launches New Video Holding Ayotte Accountable for Her Record and Election Year Lies

A new digital video from the Democratic Governors Association outlines the key reasons why Granite Staters cannot – and should not – trust New Hampshire Republican nominee for governor Kelly Ayotte.The new video holds Ayotte accountable for her long and well-documented anti-abortion track record, as well as her full-throated endorsement of Donald Trump after famously rescinding her endorsement of him in 2016.

Despite Ayotte’s efforts to lie to Granite Staters about her record in a slew of TV ads, this new video sets the record straight on Ayotte’s real record, including:

• Leading the charge for a national abortion ban and saying Roe v. Wadewas “wrongly decided,” and calling for the landmark decision to be overturned — before working with Trump and McConnell to confirmSupreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, the very first justice to sign off on the Dobbs decision that overturned nearly 50 years of settled law protecting abortion rights.
• Voting for the Blunt amendment and cosponsoring the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act, both of which would have allowed insurance companies and employers to deny employees coverage of certain care, including birth control, IVF, and mental health care.
• Voting four times to defund Planned Parenthood – the biggest provider of reproductive health care in the state of New Hampshire, and promising to go further as governor.

• Saying in 2016 that she “cannot and will not support a candidate for president who brags about degrading and assaulting women,” and that “I thought about years from now, when my daughter Kate is old enough to know what is in those tapes and to understand what he is talking about, I want her to know where I stood. I cannot vote for Donald Trump based on what he has said and done and the actions he talked about in those tapes. And I want my daughter to know that” …before proudly endorsing Trump in 2024 and saying she would welcome his endorsement.

“Despite her best efforts to lie about her dangerous and disqualifying record, Granite Staters know they can’t trust Kelly Ayotte,” said DGA States Press Secretary Emma O’Brien. “While Ayotte tries to flood the airwaves with lies about her record on abortion and Trump, Granite Staters aren’t buying it, and know they cannot trust her as their next governor. No matter what election year lies she tries to spin, Kelly Ayotte cannot run from her record.”
