Bruce Blakeman’s Running Mate Joins Him in Support of Cutting Medicaid

Bruce Blakeman’s Lieutenant Governor choice Todd Hood was caught this week reiterating their ticket’s commitment to gutting Medicaid and jacking up health care costs for New Yorkers. At a campaign event, Hood joined Blakeman in throwing the millions of New Yorkers who rely on Medicaid under the bus when he promised to, “Cut Medicaid spending – everyone’s like, ‘Oh that’s terrible.’ It’s not.” Hood’s remarks come just a few days after Blakeman himself said “of course” when asked if he would cut Medicaid as governor.

As a result of Trump’s devastating cuts, 1.5 million New Yorkers are already being kicked off Medicaid and a Blakeman governorship would only push health care further out of reach for families already struggling with the affordability crisis exacerbated by Republicans in Washington. In Trump’s own words, Blakeman is “100% MAGA,” and says he looks forward to “working very hard” with Blakeman to enact an extreme agenda focused on making health care – and everything else – more expensive for New Yorkers.

“Bruce Blakeman is 100% MAGA and 100% committed to taking away New Yorkers’ health care,” said DGA spokesperson Kevin Donohoe. “Just like Donald Trump, Bruce Blakeman is hell-bent on gutting Medicaid and ripping away health care from New Yorkers.”
