Ayotte Still Silent on Endorsers Who Called 16-Year-Old Girls “Ripe” and “Fertile” and Threatened “Shooting Spree” Against Police
It’s been nearly a week since former Senator Kelly Ayotte has refused to renounce her endorsement from Republican state Representative Jess Edwards, who has garnered national attention for claiming that 16-year-olds are “ripe” and “fertile,” voting against a law outlawing child marriage.
This is nothing new for Ayotte, who has been picking up endorsements from one extremist after another. For nearly six weeks now, Ayotte has failed to renounce the endorsement she received from state Rep. Jon Stone after it was revealed that he “threatened to kill fellow police officers in a shooting spree, and murder his chief after raping the chief’s wife and children, all while he was already under scrutiny for his inappropriate relationship with a teen girl.” When given the opportunity during an interview on WMUR’s CloseUp, Ayotte refused.
“Every day that passes where Kelly Ayotte refuses to condemn her supporters’ extreme, dangerous, and downright disturbing behavior is another day that proves why she is too extreme to be New Hampshire’s next governor,” said DGA States Press Secretary Emma O’Brien. “Ayotte will always put politics ahead of what’s best for New Hampshire families. If she won’t even speak out against child marriage or attacks on police, how will she stand up for Granite Staters in the corner office?”
