As NC GOP Convention Gets Underway, Former Gov. Pat McCrory Warns of Mark Robinson’s “Baggage”
As North Carolina’s GOP convention kicks off today, Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson continues to earn harsh criticism from prominent in-state Republicans for being dangerous and wrong for North Carolina.
In a local radio interview on the WPTF Morning Show, former governor Pat McCrory warned that Mark Robinson’s “baggage” makes him the wrong candidate for the state, and criticized Republicans for nominating him. Previously, McCrory has slammedRobinson for being “Trump on steroids” while also refusing to endorse him for governor.
McCory’s comments also come as the state’s senior U.S. Senator Thom Tillis continues to stand by his belief that Mark Robinson does not have “the qualifications for the job” — a position he has held since the primary, when Tillis endorsed Robinson’s opponent due to what he called a “stark contrast in capabilities,” and hammered Robinson for having “virtually no legislative experience, very little business experience.”
Rather than reassure his fellow Republicans, Robinson has lashed out at those who warn he is wrong for the state, choosing petty political infighting over addressing the issues that North Carolinians care about most.
“Mark Robinson is wrong and dangerous for North Carolina, and even Republicans are sounding the alarm,” said DGA National Press Secretary Devon Cruz. “Whether it is his embrace of dangerous conspiracy theories or his toxic plans to rip away rights and fundamental freedoms, Robinson’s dangerous agenda is convincing North Carolinians of all political affiliations that he cannot be trusted as their next governor.”
